Following an 8 hour rickety coach ride which smelt bad and had people sleeping in what would be the luggage compartments on english coaches above our heads we made it to Udaipur. The hotel was really nice.
This city is famous for its minature paintings, tiny amazing detail. So we visited an art studio and saw them do it, we then got our nails painted with minature pictures and henna on my foot. We had lunch by the lake, it was gorgeous, looking out to a 5 star hotel which is built in the middle of the lake, finally had my appetite back so i enjoyed food again! I was also happy because a bought a scarf, 80% pashmina 20% silk, its gorgeous and only about 20 quid! We also watched a traditional evening entertainment show where they were different acts. Some women had bells attached all over their saris and played them in time, a man did a puppet show which was funny and a woman danced with huge ceramic pots stacked on top of her head, i was impressed when she was carrying 2 but she eventually got to 10!!!
The next day we got a cable car to thetop of the mountain at sunset and saw the most beautiful view of this city, they say it is the Venice of India and we could certainly see why. Absolutely beautiful. It also made us realise just how big this country is. Following this we got a Tuk Tuk (Rickshaw) back to the hotel, the crazy drive said i could drive it so i tried! a very odd form of transport lol. Afer dinner me and Claire went to the internet cafe and called home, it was oly about 10:30pm walking back to the hotel and as a man on a bike drove past us on the main road he tried to grab my bag off my arm. This is the first and only time something like this has happened here so it did shake us up a bit, especially as we were told this wasn't really too late to be walking back. But everything is fine and we are on the ball so no worries people!! Tough cookies we are :)
