Happiness Is The Road
It was a beautiful day with a clear blue sky and perfect for scrambling to the top of a huge granite outcrop. After brekky we waved goodbye to the wonderful view we'd had from the camper for the last two days and to the gorgeous kangaroos. Lucky Bay looked particularly fantastic today. We drove the short distance through the national park to the car park for the climb to the top of Frenchmans Peak. I did this climb back in November and I was really looking forward to doing it again this time with Jay. A gentle path leads from the car park to the base of the granite. From here it was a steep climb up the rock to the summit. In places it was extremely steep and we had to haul ourselves up the rock following the markers to the top. It was pretty tough in places. The view from the top though was dazzling and it was well worth the effort. We were rewarded with a 360 degrees view of the gorgeous turquoise ocean, the pristine beaches and the beautiful national park. Jay was very happy with herself and I was very happy with Jay for conquering this granite peak. I have been encouraging her with more and more difficult walks recently and as she is massively fitter now than back in January this challenge was absolutely no problem for her. She got up with ease and was hardly out of breath. I was very proud of Jay. We glowed in the happiness at the summit and got blown in the wind before commencing the descent. Jay had reached the top of the peaky and I felt quite perky! Once back at the camper we drove to Le Grand Beach where we had some lunch and went for a walk and a paddle along the beach. It certainly was a grand beach with the pristine sand and surf stretching off way into the distance. After this we left the awesome beauty of the national park and headed back to Esperance. We checked back into the same caravan park as before and chilled out till bedtime.
