Happiness Is The Road
It was supposed to be a hot one today. The forecast was for over 30 degrees. The signs on the way into Esperance had informed me that their beaches had been voted Australia’s best. This was the perfect day to find out. There are a quite a lot of beaches near Esperence so I thought I’d try a few of them. First of all I stopped at the Rotary Lookout on the edge of town from where there was a 360 degrees view. Esperance is in a beautiful location with lots of islands in the bay. I went to West Beach first and had a paddle here and read my book for a while. Then it was on to Blue Haven Bay, which was just amazing, pure white sand and turquoise water. This was a nice sheltered peaceful bay and I went for a dip in the sea here. The water was lovely and warm. Next up was Twilight Beach which was again lovely and sheltered, and another dip was the order of the day. By this time the temperature had seriously rocketed and it was good to get back in the camper and put the air conditioning on. I’ve not had it on that much up to now as unless it’s really hot it’s much better to just have the window open. I decided to stay in Esperance again tonight but decided to try out a different camp site. I settled on the Esperance Seafront Caravan Park which I had noticed on the way in yesterday. I got the camper in it’s spot and then just crashed. It was too hot to do anything else today. I got talking to my neighbours later on, a couple from Perth who had just tackled the Nullarbor Plain and they gave me some tips. They had heard that the temperature today had reached 39 degrees which I can believe. This was the hottest day of the trip so far. By early evening the temperature began to cool nicely as a change in the weather is due. It’s only supposed to be 23 degrees tomorrow which is good as I plan to do some walking. Nite nite my cute koalas.
