Costa Rica Day 14 Recollection
Today was an emotionally hard day for me and the rest of the crew. We started off so peaceful eating toast and scrambled eggs for breakfast. We then took the bus to the orphanage and went up to the house where we put our stuff, grabbed tape and started taping the windows. Once done I started on the top trim on the front side of the house which was super quick and we finished the wall in record time. Team Doorman then split into 2 groups, one finished the back of the house and the other started on the side wall. I went to the back to help which took a bit because nothing was done! So as I was working a boy age 17 showed up and I recognized him from one of our group members who was talking about bonding with him and he wanted to paint so he took my brush and started painting as I grabbed another and we conquered 3 walls that varied in size! I then took the him to the side wall to paint and it was going g well until he nicked me with some paint and it started a paint war with the whole group minus Mrs. Doorman and Eric who were working on the other side wall. Well we had so much fun it was ridiculous but we then started working again which was ok until I started getting light headed due to the heat and so I became lazy and couldn't really help much but it was ok because we eventually finished most of the wall. Then we went up to the house to eat lunch which was rice and beans and beef in some broth with bell peppers! After lunch we sauntered back down and were about to start working when it started raining which sucked so we went to the jungle gym room and played Stella Ella hola, duck duck goose and had a blast until the rain stopped. So we then went out and played soccer and other games with the kids which was fun but then it was time to go so we went up grabbed our stuff and took a group photo with the kids and said goodbye, well the boy who helped us paint Kristopher said goodbye 3 times and I broke down crying because he was so kind and had such a genuine heart and he was so fun to be around that I didn't want to leave but he made me take a pair of shorts and a tees heir from him so in return I gave him my work hat as a token of my gratitude and gave him my address so he can mail me which will be fun because I will have to translate it in google translate and send it to him via mail. We then headed to the market I got souvenirs for my whole family! We then went home at taquitos and then did line dances as we waited for Karaokewhich we won't get to do until Monday because of traffic. This weekend is sea turtles so I will catch my rest for tomorrow and the weekend and will update you when possible!
