Costa Rica Day 6 Recollection
Costa Rica Day 6 was a very relaxing day mainly because we were not allowed to go to the orphanage today. Instead, we slept till 6:30, got ready, did morning prayer, said grace and downed frosted flakes and a croissant with Ham and headed to the bus. It was here at 8:30 to take us to the "Club" which is a facility that includes a volleyball court, basketball court, Futbol (soccer) pitch, an indoor swimming pool, ping pong table and two foosball tables. It was about a 15 minute drive to the club and it cost us $25 USD to get in. We took a tiny stop at one of the oldest churches in Costa Rica which was having an adoration while we were there. It was cool and the design of the building was amazing, we also got a cool photo which will probably be on Basecamp Costa Rica's Facebook. Once in, we were shown around the facility and had a private Cabana to keep our stuff in but, all valuables were kept with our host who locked up his bag with the valuables in it. I started off by heading to the beach volleyball courts which was basically clay and a thin layer of sand and played 2v2 but we eventually got the game to a 5v5 and played with the best players Mr. Sangster and Luis, who said he wasn't good but could hit double handed very hard. I was playing setter and got to call a few plays that ended up winning us a few points. The only bad thing however, was that the ball could easily jump the fence around the court and would roll down a hill all the way to the soccer pitch and various times they had me scaling the steep hill both ways to get the ball back to the court. We went for a quick dip in the pool which lasted 15-20 minutes before we headed to the Café to pick up our food and take it to the Cabana. I got a hamburger with fries and a soda which was very tasty! After lunch we went to the basketball court and played basketball until it rained but the reason we left is a lightning struck less than 1 km from us and the thunder was almost instant. Then we ran to the pool and played organized water polo which was fun. I kept them from scoring as best I could but we lost in the end.
