Costa Rica Day 2 Recollection
Today was an easy day in Costa Rica. It started off at 8:00 with Cornflakes with no milk (because I don't like milk :) and transitioned to a little bit of relaxation before our host Luis started his own orientation at 9:00 and went till 2:00. We had an hour break to enjoy rice and fish which tasted absolutely amazing! Without a doubt, the best meal we have had on the trip. My group had the pleasure of washing dishes at lunch which was pretty easy.
After cleaning up, we listened for another hour to Luis who told us that when Lionel Messi, a really great soccer player, came to Costa Rica, the price of a game went from between $4-$40 to $300! Messi wasn't signing autographs because Costa Rica didn't deserve to see him in person and Luis said he was laughing because some people actually bought loans, sold their TVs and Radios just to see the game. But he said he was also sad that people did that. One hour after his orientation we had two hours to prepare for church. One hour was spent on Dutch Blitz and the other was spent making myself presentable! Luis was waiting for paint for tomorrow and did not attend church with us. But church was cool because we didn't understand very well but could pick up on stuff because the catholic faith is all the same. And I think that really opened my eyes to what faith actually is because those people there were so passionate about Christ that it gave me shivers being in there. I also got shivers partially due to the wind coming through the doors. Communion was cool because most people received communion orally but we received it by hand.
Now we are just hanging out until 9:00 to go over our day and say a prayer and then we will receive time until bed.
