At about 2am I was awoken on the bus and unfortunately never got back to sleep, the bus arriving at around 6am. We grabbed a quick bite for breakfast and then walked into the old city where our hostel was. The city is quiet pleasant but absolutely full of tourists. We met Ronnie our CS host and his new hostel - wow what a place very well designed with a nice vibe. We dropped our things and headed into the city for a look around. We decided to head to Machupichu tomorrow so we went and booked our ticket before making our way to the main square. We had heard about this free walking your so we went and joined the group but it turned out to be a tour of resteraunts and craft shops forcefully selling crap so we bailed on the idea. We spent the rest of the afternoon wondering around the old colonial buildings, visiting food markets and talking to various tourist info outlets. We ended the afternoon at a nice plaza having a drink in an outdoor cafe. Before heading back we visited a large market and brought a few things for the trip - unfortunately twice Peruvian women tried to rip me off - I laughed it off but can't help think of what a shame so many people in this beautiful country are so intent of deceiving the tourist hand that feeds them. In the evening we prepared our things for the next few days of hiking, cooked a warm dinner and tried to stay warm - the ultimate task here in Peru.
