Mazunte!! The sun was up early and so was I with another day of exploring planned. After some breakfast and some exercises I chatted with Serena and her friend Virginia and then headed up the road to try find a collectivo for Zipolite. The wait today was a lot less then yesterdays wait and the guy driving told me a fair price of 8 pesos for the trip. I really like the drive over to Zipolite - up and over the hill of Puerto Viejo and then down along the coastal plain and through tiny villages to the booming (well atleast in summer) town of Zipolite. From here I had to find another collectivo to Mazunte. I was waiting on the side of the road and a taxi driver pulled over and informed me I needed to walk up a few 100 meters to get a collectivo. Upon walking up the street I met a lovely couple from Australia/New Zealand and waited with them for the collectivo. They had just arrived in Mexico a few weeks ago and amazingly couldn't speak a word of Spanish. It was really nice chatting with them about back home and the guy was from Tasmania and had me homesick for this beautiful part of Australia that I have never been to. Eventually a collectivo came and we were off; the journey was once again very scenic and winding up and over the hills and to the next small settlement of Mazunte. Being dropped off in the centre there was a definite difference in vibe to that of Zipolite. There are certainly more tourists and businesses; catering to higher paying tourists here. Mazunte is also renouned for being the spiritual centre of the pacific coast and the town has countless ashrams, alternative healers and organic products. I headed straight to the beach with my new friends and was met by a very beautiful yellow sand beach with a much calmer and safer shoreline. There were no nudists on the beach but a couple of topless girls; which always being a little smile to the face. After a while soaking up the sun I decided to walk to into town and have a look around - I ended up walking up and out of town and stumbling down a track that lead me to a beautiful secluded beach. This beach was more my style with a lone surfer out on the point, the waves were not great shape but their size and power was impressive. I walked along the beach, found a nice spot to sit and watched........ very strangely I guy with a trumpet came out from somewhere and with jeans on and no shirt started blowing a tune right down at the water - ending up getting drenched by an unforeseen wave. Sitting on the beach I realize more and more I want to be near the water - always. The walk back to town was an adventure and the town was full of little suprises from organic shops, all you can eat vegan resteraunts, alternative therapy centers and everything else you could imagine in a hippie beach town. I took a collectivo back to Zipolite which ended up taking nearly an hour as we were stopped in roadworks for a while but with nothing much else to do it didn't bother me. The final stage of the trip was a share taxi back to Puerto Angel that had me arrive at 3pm and in time for lunch. Lunch was more like at 4pm and today Serena's friend Virginia joined us and finally we got to try some of the local fish - grilled with just a little salt and pepper. The fish was delicious and cooked to perfection and something I could surely get used to everyday. In the afternoon I started doing some work for Serena on her website and Facebook page. When sunset arrived we all got together on the rooftop and watched a beautiful beautiful sunset with colours of bright blue, violets, first reds and burnt oranges. A bird had fishing line caught around its ankles and had managed to get itself stuck in the tree so we formed a rescue group and put together a plan to rescue the little guy - of which we did. I hate to say it but I am falling in love with this place, the simplicity of things, the fresh ocean breeze, the incredible sunsets and the friendliness of the people.
