City Centre!! Today I was up early and ready to head to the city and check out the centre. I headed in just as peak hour was in full spring and what madness it was with people rushing, pushing and cutting infront of one another - makes me glad I don't live in a city like this. The main centre known as Zocalo has a metro stop so I departed into the ginormous centre square - unfortunately it was blocked off due to some event. The sheer size of the square was unbelievable and the palaces and churches that surrounded the area were breathtaking to say the least. As it was still early not much was happening so I headed back to the huge market - La Merced. It is so hard not to buy things here and even when I go with a plan I end up getting side-tracked and buying a heap of things I don't need. I tried some delicious Mexican sweets and then found myself in the avocado section where I couldn't help but grab some of these cheap delights. Feeling a bit sick from the combination of all the sweets I took note and hightailed it out of the market and back towards the city centre. The centre was now a buzz with people and activity but unfortunately the main square (Zocalo) was still cut off to the public so all I could do is sit and imagine it full of people, hawkers and performers. I took the metro back and just as I arrived at the house lunch was being served: today was a delicious beef and mushroom casserole complete with tortillas and guocamole. With not to much else to do I hung around with Ena's brother, watched some TV and surfed the net. The weather changed mid-afternoon and the rain started so I decided to stay in and keep warm.
