First Day in Mexico City & Feeling ill!! It has been an all to common occurrence on my travels of late: rushing to the bathroom all night and feeling like a bomb has exploded in my stomach. I don't know what has caused this second attack of dysentery in less then a week but I have a sneaking suspicion the tacos I ordered last night contained cream. Anyways waking up this morning with less then an hour sleep I met Ena's lovely mother who took to looking after me straight away. First up she made a delicious carrot and papaya juice and then some of my favorite hot Mexican drink - atole. The rest of Enas family came around for breakfast and the house was once again a buzz with people, kids and craziness. Ena's place is very small and I do feel like I am imposing but also the family is so kind and loving that I don't want to leave to soon. Ena headed off with her boyfriend for their weekend away so I took the chance to use her bed and get some sleep. When I woke up around 1pm Ena'a Mum was about to make lunch so I waited around chatting with Ena's brother. It was after 4pm when we got to finally eat and as my stomach was still uneasy I just had a bowl of porridge but was glad for it. Ena's brother then took me for a walk around the neighborhood which was actually really interesting. The neighborhood is one of the nicest in the city with a very bohemian style, many young families and some of the most beautiful parks I have ever seen. The parks were some of the best I have ever seen with all kinds of amenities, stalls and people coming and going - such a contrast to what we normally think of when we think of Mexico City. Ride next to the main park are all the hip bars, cafes and organic food shops - is this really Mexico City. Honestly I feel like this could be a city in Australia and I am thankful I got to witness this part of Mexico. Ena's brother is full of information and more then happy to share with me which made it even better. It was evening when we arrived back and after a shower I relaxed watching a film with the rest of the family. I am still not sure how long I will stay here but will play it by ear.
