After barely sleeping lastnight due to the freezing temperatures I was up early and ready for our bicycle ride. Unfortunately Erika didn't share my enthusiasm and it took her a few hours to get moving. At about 10:30am Erika's Dad fixed the bikes up and got us ready for our big Sunday bike ride- here in Bogota on Sundays they shut down one of the freeway lanes and open it up to cyclists, roller bladders and skateboarders. A brilliant idea and many people took advantage. We cycled to one of the biggest parks in the city and wow what an amazing place, families, food, activities and space so much space. At first we watched a dance class (free) with 100s of participants and then the yoga class and exercise classes. I really can't describe how big this park is- having everything from a huge lake, a fake beachfront, kids jungle and playground equipment, gyms, basketball courts, fields, food courts - absolutely everything. We looked around, people watched and enjoyed the nice weather - I surely could get used to this if I lived here. We headed back to Erika's later in the afternoon, had a wonderful lunch of chicken and salad and then relaxed. Erika's Dad and I did some study teaching each other English and Spanish using a supermarket catalogue. I then sent out some emails to hostels along the Caribbean coast seeing if anyone was in need of a worker in exchange for a bed and board - fingers crossed!
