Today I got up early did my exercises, yoga and chatted a bit with Erika's Dad. I then went for a bit of a walk around and through a bit of a rough area of Bogota. In the afternoon Erika and I took a bus into La Candalaria to see the old city. The bus system is a bit of a nightmare and I was very lucky Erika was there to help and guide me. The city is kind of at the base of a heap of very steep cliffs- one of which houses a beautiful church that I will go and visit early next week. We wondered up and around old streets, Bogota city is on a crazy hill so you are always walking up and down. The buildings are old, falling down but full of character and the people are a little rougher then I expected - guessing this is a poorer part of the city. We checked out the plaza where there were loads of street performers and the weirdest thing Alpackers dressed in little shoes (apparently a tourist attraction), we then met up with Vivi another local Couchsurfer; what a beautiful person so fun, full of life, well travelled and very smart. We talked about Bogota, Colombia, travels and food- she is a lover of food so we talked each others ears off about international cuisine. We ate at a little resteraunt - sampling falafel's and middle eastern food such as hummus. After dinner we walked around a bit before saying goodbye to Vivi and making our way back to Erika's. Erika's sister and her friend had been out drinking so we had an interesting chat with them before calling it a night. Bogota is looking on the up, I am still not sure I could live here but I definitely have a deeper appreciation of the place.
