Today I had no real plan so after a little sleep-in I got up and surfed the Internet a bit before deciding what to do with my day. As the sun was out I decided to go for a bit of a walk and enjoy the sunshine whilst its out. I stopped at a little shop and brought a few things for lunch before making my way back to Karina's. Later in the day Karina came back and we had a nice chat about Patagonia and my upcoming adventures through Chile & Argentina before she had to head off and pick up two other Couchsurfers from the airport. There is a nice walk around Karina's area into the hills so Whilst Karina went to the airport I went for a short hike. Karina arrived back with the two Russian Couchsurfers who had just been in Patagonia for 10 days and after a cup of tea we got in the car and headed to Puerta Varas: a beautiful little touristy town half an hour up the road. Arriving into Puerta Varas I realized I had made a good decision to stay in Puerto Montt as the town was very very touristic and full of hotels and flash restaurants - that's not to say it wasn't beautiful just not my kind of scenario. When we got out of the car a bunch of local teenage girls came running up to me and wanted to hug me, take photos and chat with me - it was the nicest thing; as if I were a rockstar and they were so happy just to talk with a foreigner. We then walked around the lake with the beautiful Osorno Volcano as its backdrop taking photos and watching all the locals swimming and hanging out on the beach. The guys wanted to get some coffee so we walked around the other side of the lake to a nice restaurant called La Gringa where Karina had been quite a few times. They decided to get dinner but as it was still early I decided not too - the food looked amazing; smoked salmon sandwiches and fresh salads. By the time they got their food, chatted and drank our coffees it was 9pm so we decided to walk back to the car and make our way back to Puerto Montt and Karina's place. Just as we arrived back Sally - the American Couchsurfer also arrived and we all sat around chatting about our days adventures late into the night. We were all set to go on a big hike tommorow and the plan was to wake up at 6am and be in the car and on the way out to the Volcano by 7am.
