Nice leisurely start to the day after yet another 10-11 hour sleep !
We set off at about 8.30am and had a long 1.5 hr steady climb up the mountain. The weather is changing again and it is much more cloudy today so unfortunately the beautiful views of the Annapurna range have alluded us. The walking was good though and it felt as if we burnt a few calories !
We met no one on our walk this morning at all.
After a couple of hours we approached a small village called Pothana where we spent about 45mins drinking tea! It felt quite nice being back in the land of civilisation as this village is on the main trekking route to Annurpurna Base Camp. We chatted to a youngish girl who is spending 6 weeks trekking in Nepal and was on her way to Annurpurna base camp having been over in the Everest region and trekked Everest base camp and gojko .... She like us is glad to be in the balmier climate of the Annapurnas !
We then continued on our way to Dhampus where our next stop is ..... Ker and Downey in Basanti Lodge. We were welcomed onto the lawn with some lemonade and a lunch of chapati wraps with mayonnaise and cheese and salami..... Yummy!
Sadly the weather has been drawing in and the afternoon became much cooler and very cloudy and misty which meant we had no views at all even if the garden let along the beautiful mountains which we can only imagine!
Spent the afternoon reading and in front of the fire the staff kindly lit.
Some Tibetan refugees came and sold some ware before dinner and we bought a couple of key rings and a bowl..... All part of the course.
Lovely Nepalese dinner of potatoes followed by soup , baht Dhall and chocolate custard washed down with beer and hot rum punch.
Our lovely porter CV put hot water bottles in our beds and thoughtfully wrapped our pjs around them so they were warm when we went to bed !
Another evening spent around the fire reading etc. No wifi again and yet another early night! X
