Now I'm getting used to the whole time change thing and I got up around 7am , which was a lot nicer.
We got Bonnie out of her paddock and groomed her and then we tried a bit in her mouth, she had never had a bit in her mouth so she wasn't best pleased, but she was OK, she just chewed on in for a while. We then took that out and put a saddle on her back. This saddle was given to us by the farrier and it is 'ancient' it weighs a tonne and is just really not great. Any way we got her saddled up and I got her into the round pen, I tried to drive (chase) her round but all she wanted to do was walk and follow me round. In the end I gave up so I got on board and rather unexpetadly she was totally fine, she didn't seem to care. So I walked her round for a while all well and good, then thought lets try a trot, bare in mind I was in a saddle that was too big for me, slippery worn seat, no stirrups, because they were too long and non adjustable and with no bridle. So I tried for trot, and she wasn't happy she did some small bronc's and that was enough to unseat me in this really stupid situation. I landed square on my back! OUCH! It knocked the wind clean out of me, and I was in a lot of pain, as the muscle in the centre on my back had tightene right up and moving was not only difficult but very painful. The rest of the day was spent recovering really. Uncle Tim and Aunty Sue went to Jackie and Wayne Stuckey's frineds of ours who breed horses and who Lacey and Betty came from, and Betty was bred to her stallion for Ben. She had just bought a new stallion Kong, solid black, a real looker, hopefully I will get chance to go down and see him.
Later on in the day we went to collect some hay, I was pretty much useless in helping them, so I drove the pick-up through the field while they loaded the hay onboard, after two loads, it was about 10:40pm and we called it a day having had to pick it up from the field, load it into the pick-up/trailer and then get it home and then stack it, all of which was in 30 degree plus heat. I became of some use when I got back as I coul push the bails off the truck and trailer, but that was about it.
So all in all not a really great day, but one thing learnt from this was 'to not put yourself in a stupid position, and give yourself a chance before you start'. So due to my stupidity and getting myself hurt no photo's today…
