Well this is day 1 really…
I woke up about 4am (don't know why??) and typed up yesterdays entry, I am sort of a day behind with these.
Around 7:30am Holly our neighbour/livery owner came round, of which at this time the expression 'have you sh*t/pi**ed the bed?' was used extensively. Then we found she had run out of eggs, and Troy, her husband wanted eggs for breakfast. The free range eggs produced from my Auntie and Uncles chickens are top quality. I then had poached eggs on toast myself for breakfast. We then set to, I went and bought in my new mare Bonnie and groomed her and began forming the trusting relationship that is needed in such a partnership. I sat up on her bareback 'just to see what she would do' as she was as good as gold. We then went and got Betty (foals mum) out of her field, she hasn't been ridden in 7 years. We got a saddle on her back and put her in the round pen and let her go as see what she could do, she wasn't a big fan of being driven round, aspecially when there was an option of eating the long shoots of grass and weeds in there. She put on a bit of a bucking show. I grabbed my body protector and helmet and got up on her, it was expected that she would go a bit crazy, it couldn't have been futher from the truth, she was so lazy and didn't know how to respond to my leg or hand movements. After a short ride round on Betty, due to her unfitness, she began to sweat up theis may of also be partly due to the 25°C heat. Later on my Autie Sue took ben out for a walk around the yard, and he handled like a dream, especially given he is give or take 4 months old. After this the heat really kicked up, it was easily 30°C or so. We then headed oer to Marietta's place which is round the block, she has a large arena and was hosting an english riding clinic, today was showjumping, watching this was very interesting, it was very much the same techniques, but put across differently, it was quite cool to watch and there was a few thrill 'n' spills while we were there too. Then it was off to 'Rodeo Creek', a tack store, to buy some bridals from Bonnie and Betty, so real work could begin. We bought two webbing bridals for rounghly $20 a piece, which is like £10. Then we came back, chilled inside as it was getting crazy hot outside! Later we headed oer to Travis and Maria's place next door to say hi. There was a whole bunch of folks over there having a BBQ at the time and the conversation was quite good. That evening my Aunties ex-student now colleague from ER came round and we had a BBQ our selves and had rather allot of beer, a very entertaining night by all accounts. And then bed, 'slept like a log' I think is the expression. I really need to take some photo's Tomorrow…
