So here's the first day…
We (Mum, Dad, Sister andMyself) left the house at around 7am (GMT) to head down the London Heathrow. After a 3 hour car journey we were there, we got parked, and went into the Terminal (3). We went and got all my luggage checked in, and then headed off towards security. This was as far as me and the family go, I got cleared in security amazingly quick, considdering it is Heathrow (about 5 minutes). I headed to the executive lounge which is a nice comfortable place to wait until the departure lounge for my departure lounge to open. There was free beverages and snacks to go at which was awesome! Sat there with my cold Kronenbourge, Shortbread biscuits and my book on a nice leather sofa (I know you thinking 'Smug B***ard!'). When it got to about 12:30pm (GMT) I vacated and went off to the departure lounge which was very different (screaming kids, people sat on the floor, busy and noisy) after being sat there until 1:30pm, I was thinking 'We should be gone by now, the flight was at 1:15pm (GMT)' but this is England afterall and delays and inconveniance is what we do best. Finally we boarded and took to the sky's at around 2pm (GMT). Air Canada was fantastic, especially compared to the previous times I have flown out here with lesser airlines. I was sat next to a lad called Nick, he was on his was to Sydney (changing at Vancouver). As we got into the flight I was beginning to feel the annoying head -cold I had just got literally the day before, got the old laptop out and watch a few films ('London to Brighton'- not great, and 'Outlaw' - again not great, but when you fall asleep and miss the middle of it…)
Supper came round, I had Lamb, which amazingly was really nice. We flew over what only I can think to be Greenland where you could see all the millions of small icebergs floating in the ocean, and then the completely uninhabitable snow covered mountain ranges, it looked as though it was painted. The rest of the flight was torn between reading, watching films, playing Vice city stories on the PSP and sleeping. After about 7 hours though I'd had enough. We landed in Vancouver on time, cleared customs and reclaimed my baggage, then only to check it back-in at Domestic Departure with Canadian Mountain Air (which happened to be the furthest walk). Once I had got rid of my bags I had roughly 2 hours to kill before boarding at 6:15pm (GMT-8). Got myself some TimBits (small dough ball things, almost like the centre's of dohnuts, covered with different glazes) and an Orange Juice from Tim Horton's. Had a bit more of a wander round the Duty Free area, but decided against buying anything. Off to gate B19 then it was, I sat there until about 7pm (GMT-8) then we finally boarded the plane. The plane was crazy small! It seated about 20 people and it was one person each side of the isle, you could see right into the cockpit and it had a propellor on each wing! The scenery from the air was fantastic as we flew a fair bit lower this time, we headed straight through the Rocky Mountains, (what a fantastic view that was) We landed in Williams Lake which was just a 15 minute flight South of Quesnel where I was due to get off, we dropped off a few passengers then Up and Down and I was on the runway in Quesnel. The airport consists of a small building which looks like a club house at a cricket ground and a long runway. Got off the plane and it was about 23°C which was lovely! There is no baggage corrousell, no security, its just one big building with a few offices round it a steel shoot which a man chucks your bags down. Once I got my bags it was about 7:50pm (GMT-8) I headed to he exit and was greeted by my Auntie Sue and Uncle Tim, We got my luggage into the back of my Aunties truck (Hyundai Santa Fe - very nice!) and headed for home, on the way back we went via the Offy! And got $100 (about £50 give or take) of booze to last us for a while. We pulled up on the drive and got my stuff out and the beers! I was mauled my the dogs (Poppy and Jenny) of who I hadn't seen in a year. And then we went to have a look at the horses (there was 9 of them) on Livery, Ben (4 month old foal) Betty (his mum) Lacey (old broud mare owned by my Auntie and Uncle) Then my 'Birthday Present' a buckskin 3 year old mare called Bonnie who is green-broke (she has been ridden very lightly and turned away for 7 or so months, she has never had a bit in her mouth either) so I am challenged with riding her and 'doing what ever I want with her' I have also been given the task of riding Betty, she hasn't been ridden in 7 years, again this should be fun! We got some food (burger and sausages off the BBQ) and a few beers in the gazebo, then when the mosquito's came with avengance we went inside. Then 10pm (GMT-8) we all went off to bed ( I was knackered!)
So really that was day 1…
I will keep you all updated each night when possible of the days activities (plus more photo's)
