Chiang Mia is one of the biggest cities in Northern Thailand with a huge night market. On arrival and after getting our bearings I decided it was about time I had my hair cut, while the others went to a bar to wait for me. On walking in I immediately regretted it as i heard the unnaturally high pitched oice of a shim(ladyboy). Luckily for me though"it" was already busy and i managed to get someone normal.
I later joined the others at the bar where they had a "toss the boss" deal on. This is where when you buy a pint you flip a coin, if you guess the face you get it for free. Well it seems like i was in with the luck that day as i didnt pay for a single pint all afternoon.
In the evening the whole group went out for a meal to celebrate the end of the trip and then around all the night markets and finally to a bar. Mick showed his bargaining skills when a man tried to sell him a "genuine"watch for 1,000,000 Baht, which he later managed to get down to 200, and still didnt buy.
We stayed at the bar until the early hours of the morning drinking towers of Chang Beer (3L) for a few quid a pop.
Unfortunately we had to get up early the next day with Changovers for the Thai cooking course we had enrolled on. Walking around a fish market is not the best smell you want to have when your feeling rough as Jack nearly threw up. It turns out im not a great Thai Chef. Although the food i cooked tasted lovely, its appeareance left much to be desired. The soup which was supposed to be white turned out pick, and the curry looked more like dog food.By the end of cooking 4 meals and eating them all in a morning we were ready to burst. Luckily we had a long train ride back to Bangkok to let it digest.
