We arrived back at the familiar surroundings of Bangkok on Christmas EveEve (23rd). MIck decided to stay with us for an extra day until his flight back to Bonnie Scotland. We trapsed around the Khao SAn Road area in the midday heat with big bags and all trying to find our hostel, Sawasadee Bangkok Inn. It turns out that practically every Hotel in the area is called the same name. Eventually we stumbled across the place, and after a brief cool down we heade out to gra some food. Me being my usual clumsy self tripped over a kurb and sliced my toe open, but luckily it wasn't bad enough to risk a trip to a Thai Hospital.
Later that evening we said fairwell to Mick, and then there was 2 again. ON Christmas Eve we decided to visit the huge reclingin budda. This is basicaly one of the biggest buddas in the world, laid down inside a large temple. To celebreate Christmas we went down to Khao San Road, here we unexpectadly met up with a friend we made in LAo called Kirsty. We joined a group of people caling themselves the lonely travellers. Basically this was a bunch of backpackers that had no one else to spend Christmas withso tehy all joined together. Any person who looked lonely drinking by themselves was asked to join. After seeing in a drunken Christmas we headed off to a few other bars and finally to bed. I obviously didnt forget to put some smelly socks on the end of the beds in which i put any free junk i could find at the time, including free soap and shampoo and any loose change i had. ( it wouldn't have been Christmas without presents)
We spent Christmas day not doing a great deal apart from skyping back home to the family and endulging in the nearest thing to Christmas Dinner we could get - Chicken Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. LAter we met up with the lonely travellers again to drink more and go round some Bangkok Clubs. We stumbled in at around 6am the next day and practically slept and watched films all of boxing day.
Unfortunately the next day was our last in Bangkok and we felt a bit bad at being in Bangkok for so long and not seeing all the sights. SO we jumped in a cramped TukTuk and head off to see the sights with our personall Chauffer for the day. Amazingly it cost 10 Baht (20p) between us for this private tour of the city in which we visited the Grand Palace, Tallest free standing Budda and many more strange temples.
Eventually our time in Bangkok drew to a close as we caught a coach down to the legendary full moon party island of Koh Phangan for new year.
