When we got into Hong Kong we immediately felt at home with English signs and cars driving on the left. It seemed like they actually paid attention to road laws here as well.
On the first day we started off shopping for electrical goods as they were a lot cheaper than everywhere else. Unfortunately this is the only thing cheaper and the food etc is similar to back home. After deciding I couldn't fit a plasma tv in my rucksack we caught the trams over to the centre of Hong Kong Island. From here we rode the tallest escalator in the world up the side of the hill, but somehow we still found it hard to find.
We then aimed to find the only budget eating restaurant around, and eventually down a side alley we found a cheap Indian place. I now realise you really do pay for what you get as the chicken was bright red and uncooked on the inside.
We also ended up walking mile in search of the river front because we got off the bus at the wrong place, only to find it wasn't that spectacular when we got there. We finished celebrating the end of the trip and ChanChan becoming a poor unemployed student like us.
The next day was our last in Hong Kong and after traveling to the Island again to see it in the day we headed up Victoria Peak on the steep tram which made the buildings look like they were falling over. We had some amazing views of all the city from the top.
To save on accomodation we then slept at the airport. IN the early hours of the morning I got up and was asked by a Chinese guy to tkae 1 picture of him in front of a large fake Christmas tree. This then turned into about 200 photos of him pulling corny poses and playing with the elves. We eventually flew out in the morning to Hanoi in Vietnam.
