Ok,Brace yourselves, tis going to be a long one. Yangzhou is amazing... If we had the chance i would have stayed longer. Yangzhou is a small town situated amongst hundreds of small column like mountains whixh come vertically out of the ground.
Believe it or not we were staying in a hotel called Fawlty Towers, but unforunately the 24 hour train ride had taken all my wit and i couldn't think of any ways to change the letters around.
We set off on a freezing morning down towards the River Li to go Bamboo Rafting. It wasn't actualy as good as it sounds and we spent the whole time shivering. On the upper hand we did get to see a man dresed in traditional clothing with 2 Cormarants sat on him, which he used for fishing. I'd stupidly packed my camera and no battery for it though so no pics.
We spent the remainder of the day browsing the local stalls. For tea we went to a place called Drifters where after seeing they had shepherds pie on the menu I couldn't resist. Later we went out to Bar 98, drinking some dirt cheap beer and stumbling back [looking at jack] a few hours later.
The next day consisted of a vit more shopping and i also reluctantly had my cut cut shortafter being bullied into it by Jack and Chanchan. We later climbed up a rocky path to the top if oen of these large cliff things. We scaled it in record time as we only had a short while until we had to go to the famous light show. It turned out to be pretty but there were some good bits. Basically its a play composed by the famous chinese director who did Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and House of Flying Daggers. Unfortunately it was all in Chinese and the plot to the story passed us by, however it was good at the end where probably about 300 - 400 people lined up with lights on the lake.
The next day was our last in the centre of Yangzhou so we decided to go for Tai Chi lessons. A small chuby man taught us the first 6 steps which takes about 3-4 minutes to do. At first we looked ridiculous but after an hours lesson we were pro's. Our teacher looked a bit soft but then he showed us how to use it for fighting, and believe me he was scary.
Later that day we hired bikesand cycled out to a small village for 2 nights. The guest house was in the middle of nowhere but was lovely inside with unstable hammocks and even a DVD player to entertain us.
We got rudly awoke by the farms cockrills and jumped on our bikes again along with Chan Chan and one of her friends to visit Moon Hill. This is a large hill with an arch on the top (best to look at the pictures.) We later dropped off the bikes and got on motorbikes back to the guest house. This being the first time ever on one was an experience for me, let alone the fact tey drive like crazy and have complete chaos on the roads. Anyway i still loved it.
