Ni How.
After a frightening car ride, where the driver thought it was OK to costantly overtake on blind corners as long as they held down their horn, we arrived at the Sumatai section of the Great Wall. This is a more remote section with less vistors due to the steepness of the climb. We knew the Chinese liked to do things big, but this was just too far. We were finding it difficult walking up to it on a set path, let alone get an army up there.
We'd been told that it had snowed a couple of days ago, and therefore went up fully kitted out, gloves and all. However by the time we reaced the top we had built up so much sweat we were having to walk around in T-shirts.
After getting stopped by some freindly locals, and then being followed by them for about a mile up a steep hill (dont know how they did it becasue they looked seventy!) Eventually we decided that we couldn't outpace them without giving ourselves heart attacks so we bought a set of postcards. It turns out they were farmers who needed to sell souveniers because the land was frozen over.
Really loved it though. The views from the top were spectacular, and we could see it winding on for miles over every mountain top.
Still haven't had chance to upload my photos, or write other blogs. Hope your all OK.
