Hi everyone, welcome to my first blog entry...

Beijing, well it can summed up in three words really: Big, Busy and a Bargain. We started our travels on thursday here and started off exploring Beijing. The last couple of days we've managed to brave the subway and go to visit Tainanmen Square. This is bascially just a place for street sellers to meet and pick out the weak looking tourists, (Jack). Later we went to Forbidden City and after taking many pictures we realised it was only the front gate. The actual place went on for a couple of kilometers with hundred of different courtyards.

The next day we decided to visit Temple of Heaven where sacrifices to the gods used to be made and witnessed jack being ripped off for a Rolex. We've also been to Summer Palace which is a huge park built around a lake to worship summer, unfortunately parts of the lake were frozen and the last thing we felt like celebrating was the summer.

Still getting used to all the food here even though it involves rice and noodles each time. I also had Peking Duck for the first time, delicious (sorry Laura)

Anyway i'm sat here now with a beer in my hand ( 50p) thinking of you all back home. HA
