Day 99 (Tuesday 23rd January 2007)
"Wardy" had ran out of money and gone home, so we decided to drive down to Jay's father's place at Willowvale, just south of the city, to keep him company and catch up.
It was a good hour and a half drive from David and Wendy's and we got there to find him lounging around in what can only be described as a mansion!
His father's home was extaordinary. The work's still being done to the plot of land he first bought and the house he designed himself, but as Jay gave us the guided tour, it was as if we were watching an episode of 'Cribs' on MTV!
He cooked us up a spaghetti bolognese (well got the ingredients out and left it for sarah) and we ate at the huge dining table, sipping wine and absorbing the panoramic views.
From experience, never eat a spaghetti bolognese and then hop in a car with Jay. At the wheel of his Dad's ute, he took us up into the forest to show us an old creepy caravan where someone lives, before bringing out his off-road skills (and our spaghetti bolognese) on his way back down the dirt track...not for the faint hearted!
Back at his again and we kicked back on the veranda. Marc got hold of the CDs and before you knew it 'the Ballad of Curtis Lowe' was blearing out through the speakers. Later on we picked his old man up from the station, before hitting their local pub for a few drinks that evening and our long drive home.
PS The Gold Coast doesn't look much to us Stevie boy. We only drove past it on our way to Brisbane, but it was all theme parks and commercial crap by the looks of things! Guess we'll just have to come back and get taught by Bracklesham Bay's legendary surfing hero Stevie "Billy Boy" Rasonovich!!
Day 100 (Wednesday 24th January 2007)
100 days!! Well at least two poms hit a century whilst in Australia!!!!
David dropped us off in the city for the day on his way to work, as our days far away from home crept into triple figures. We strolled about for a while and worked our way down to Southbank, where we sat in the mini rainforest watching the many waterdragons.
Jay finally turned up to meet us and the three of us had a nice refreshing dip at Street Beach (the artificial beach in the middle of the city). Jay went off to met his old man for lunch and we had a nice disgusting McDonalds by the river.
We sat under the fig tree to escape the sun, where by complete fluke, we ran into David just finishing his day's work. we hopped in his ute, went home and had fish and chips before finishing the day off with a nice bit of 'Life of Brian'...classic!
PS Glad to hear you're enjoying the new job Marc's mum! Wish we could have popped into Chichester to meet you and Sarah's mum the other day...would have meant we'd have had to drag ourselves out of the swimming pool though! So your eating like a normal human being now...no more bagels and porridge?? Another scrape with danger for Stevie boy then...gotta' get a photo on your new camera of his lip (and Enzo) and email it to us!!
