Day 95 (Friday 19th January 2007)
We left our sand dune early in the morning before someone found us. We picked up a quick brekkie with the boys before hitting the Pacific Highway north to Brisbane, entering our fourth state, Queensland the 'Sunshine State'.
We waved goodbye to Tucker and "Wardy" as they came off at their exit and we continued for another hour or so up to Morayfield. We made it to David and Wendy's farm (without getting lost) before lunch and were greeted by the dog 'Flash' and daughter Eola.
Wendy (aka "Kenny"...for her muffled voice, similar to that of the little hooded fella in South Park...pitty she never dies in each episode Andy would say) returned home about an hour later and they made us feel at home. Their place is fantastic (www.akminiaturelodge.com.au). Lots of land all around and a swimming pool by the house for when that Queensland heat gets a bit too much! There's also a spare ute in the yard that they have kindly offered to us whenever we need it while we're here (i.e. Fraser Island).
Eola's husband Andy, followed by David (aka "Bob"...after Bob the Builder, because he never actually finishes a job off) arrived home a bit later. As are the whole family, David was really nice. He looks a dead ringer for 'Brad Wesley' in the film 'Roadhouse'. He doesn't have a helicoptor, but he does have a couple of boats!
Wendy's a real character. She's the boss of the house and we warmed to her 'tell it exactly like it is' attitude straight away. Eola's really nice and Andy's a real Aussie kinda' guy...home from work, crack out the beer and put the cricket on! How happy was Marc, until he watched another embarrassing England performance unfold. They also have 'Foxtel', so Marc can watch all the footy too!!
The last member of the family, except for the adorable puppy 'Lou Lou', was Eola and Andy's 2 1/2-year-old son Cameron and he returned home from day care, immediately making a new best friend in Sarah!
In the evening we all sat around the table for dinner and afterwards, we sat and watched a bit of tv...the first time in ages!
Day 96 (Saturday 20th January 2007)
We lazed around for most of the morning. David and Cameron then took us to the Morayfield shopping centre down the road, as well as showing us around the town so we could get our bearings.
After lunch David took us out to show off his boat, as well as grabbing a milkshake at Bribie Island. His boat is a Scarob and very nice too and he's promised to take us out fishing on Friday.
Sarah spoke to her family in the evening, before we met David and Wendy's son Sean, his partner Stacey and their daughter Jess at the Hog's Breath restaurant for a lovely steak and calamari dinner...they're certainly looking after us!
