Ok, so I’m a lazy, lazy girl who can’t ever be bothered to update this blog thingy but I’m forcing myself to do it so you’d all better appreciate it! Oh and by the way I’m so sorry if I haven’t replied to your email/letter/comment in like AGES … I’ve become SO slack but I SWEAR I will do it ASAP.
ANYWAY, here’s what went down this past week. I believe I was up to Wednesday…
Wednesday, 27/1/10
Wednesdays are always my busiest days. It’s basically non-stop from 8:55am – 5pm. Fun fun fun. To be honest, I can’t actually remember what happened last Wednesday. But just to cover myself, here’s my little opinion on each of the drama classes I’m with. The Lower Sixth (Year 12s) are a really good class. They’re all really talented and so nice and polite and respectful and fun at the same time. All the drama classes over here are so lucky cos their work is all so much more practically based and based a lot more around acting and directing rather than just analysing plays. It’s a good mix. The Upper Sixth (Year 13s) are, well, unfocused but it’s hilarious. Plus they have Dorothy as their teacher who just winds them up all the time which is very funny to watch. Then there’s the Year 11s who are fine and the Year 9s who are all rather…well…not bursting with talent to say the least (some are ok) so it’s interesting sitting through one of those lessons!
Anyway, Wednesday was also CCF and this week we did Drill which is basically just all the marching and standing at ease and saluting and about face and what not. I think the kids found it boring but I got to join in and I actually found it really fun! Haha.

Ok so I really can’t remember at all what I did on this day! Oh wait, YES I CAN! So after school and netball and what not, Amy and I were picked up by Kate at about 5:30pm and were dropped at Wickham Market train station (about 15mins away) to go to LONDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAYYYYY. I somehow managed to stuff everything I needed into one handbag while Amy decided to take a suitcase as well hehehe bless. (BLESS I love that word !!). ANYWAY. The trip to London from Wickham Market was just under 2hrs but it really didn’t feel like that at all! I love catching trains – they’re so much smoother, roomier and more comfortable than planes or buses or really any other mode of transport! Once we’d arrived at Liverpool St Station, we passed GO and collected $200. teehee *sigh* I crack myself up But seriously, we arrived at the station and bought our Oyster cards for the tube (best ever ticketing invention in the world. Except when you forget to swipe OUT of the tube because the gate is open and it ends up charging you an extra 5 pounds. Idiots) and then hopped on the tube (or two or three) to Earlsfield which is down near-ish Wimbeldon. That’s where we stayed for the night as Amy’s sister’s friend Andrea and her husband live there. They were both very sweet and it was so good to be at a proper house! Not to mention how good it was to be in a city!!!
Friday, 29/1/10
We got off to a really late start and didn’t get out of the house til about midday! So much for our plans to get going at 8am…phht. We hopped on the overground and made our way to Waterloo where we jumped off the train and walked over to the River Thames. Can I just say now that I LOVE cities. It was such a relief to be in a city, I can’t even begin to tell you! Although I do love the countryside still So, anyway, we walked along the Thames, passed the London Eye and then got roped in by some ticket seller into going to the Movieum (the London Film Museum). For 8 pounds, I personally don’t think it was worth it at all but hey, it was alright. It was full of heaps of old props and costumes and sets from heaps of different films so that was all cool to look at. We came out and then dawdled over one of the many bridges (Westminster Bridge I believe this one was) and passed Big Ben which really isn’t that big. We wandered up one of the made-famous-by-Monopoly streets to Trafalgar Square and had some lunch at a cute little Spaghetti House that had the best damn pesto in the world! At around 3, we went over to the National Gallery (and got interviewed by the BBC who were doing some survey on internet usage – I’m taking the London TV world by storm HA) where we met Dad’s friend’s son, Sam, and his friend Dan who both live in London and are the same age as us so it was nice to have some company! The four of use wandered through the National Gallery (which, to be honest, was rather boring but we just made cracks about all the paintings so it was entertaining nonetheless) before heading over to the National Portrait Gallery which was sooo much more interesting cos it had a really nice photographic exhibition on. Moral of the story: go to the National Portrait Gallery over the National Gallery. The four of us then caught the tube back to Sam’s apartment which is right near Tower Bridge which looks absolutely beauuutiful at night. Sam’s place is amaaazing and so modern and London-chic! We just chilled there for a while before Amy and I said goodbye and jumped on another tube to go to the theatre!! We saw “Stomp” which was incredible and if you have no idea what it is, go and Youtube it. Arrived back at Andrea’s place around midnight and fell into bed.
Saturday, 30/1/10
Mum’s birthday!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
We woke up ridiculously early to catch the train back and Kate picked us up from the station which was incredibly nice of her. Netball ended up getting cancelled (again) cos it had snowed (again!)!! So I basically did nothing all day.
Sunday, 31/1/10
Amy and I joined in on a school trip to Norwich today which is about 1hr 15mins away. It’s SUCH a beautiful town and has the most amazing shops (not too expensive either!). We bought way too much stuff!! However I got wellies (aka gumboots) finally!! WOO. Came back and that was that.
Monday, 1/2/10 – Thursday, 4/2/10
Can’t really remember what I did this week. Just another usual school week. Hung out in Vic (the boarding house I’m with) a couple of the nights just watching TV and chatting to the girls which was nice. Had Astro Turf duty one night which SUCKED cos it’s basically like “stand in the rain from 9pm-10pm while these crazy “can’t-feel-the-cold-kids” run around”. Ummm what else…. Went and helped out with some drama rehearsals a few nights in the theatre (which is amazing) so that was good fun. CCF was dead boring cos I was teaching some kids how to tie knots for an hour. Joy. Babysat the kids of two of the teachers at school who are so cute!!! Coached more netball – one girl fractured her ankle the poor thing Finished organising my Ireland trip – all my flights are booked and I’m going to be staying with Sophie Kiss for 2 nights while I’m there which will be really nice! Annnnnndddd yeah….that’s about all I did I think!
Friday, 5/2/10
Day off today. SCHWEET. Just bummed around for most of it, went and sorted out some bank stuff bla bla bla the usual. Then at 4pm, the three of us joined in on a trip to Stratford (Shakespeare’s birth place for anyone who cares) where the sixth form English/Drama classes were going to see some play called “Doctor Faustus” (Christopher Marlow anyone?). It was SO bizarre. Kind of cool the way that they staged it but SO SO weird. I have no idea what went on in that play. AND we saw a lot more than we bargained for – JEEZ that was no “brief male nudity” like the signs warned! Anyway, got back at around 11:45 (2.5hrs to get there….groan).
I'LL UPDATE SOON!!! love to you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
