Well, I've now been in New Zealand for just over a week and what a beautiful country!! I have added some pictures which you can find here, but it just doesn't do it justice!!
I have spent the last week touring round the South Island in a Camper van with my mum and dad and it has been so much fun! I met them i Greymouth having done the Trans Alpine Railway which is suppoes to be one of the most scenic train journeys in teh world and it definietly lived up to its reputation. Towering mountains, aqua blue rivers and small villages and all from the comfort of a train seat!
Once I'de met Mum and dad we then travelled on to the Fox Glacier which is immense and then onwards to Wanaka which is on a very pretty lake, passing through more mountains and past beautiful waterfalls and vast lakes. From there we travelled to Queenstown, the worlds adventure capital. Here you can do anything from bungee jumping to sky-diving, white water rafting to sailing, river surfing to lugeing and everything in between! We opted for the lugeing and white water rafting options but I'm going round the South Island again and will re-visit Queenstown so I quite like the sound of River Boarding and Canyoning! Onwards from Queenstownto Dunedin, which wasn't the most exciting place ever and then Ashburton where it hailed and thurnderstormed for about an hour and I was slightly concerned as we were in a metal van underneath a tree! Finally we spent a couple of days in Christchurch and went to the Antartic centre (including smulated ice storm and penguin feeding).
Mum and Dad have now left to go back home via Sydney so I'm back on my own again which is a bit scary! At the moment I'm in Kaikoura about 2-3 hours north of Christchurch. I'm very excited as tomorrow I get to swim with Dolphins (fingers crossed as long as the weather is ok and the dolphins turn up to the party!), mind you it requires me to be up at 5am but I have no doubt it will be worth it!! I'm now travelling round New Zealand on the Magic Bus which is basically a hop-on, hop-off bus which follows a circuit first round the South Island for me and then the North Island. They can book your accommodation for you as well as a range of activities and subject to the old finances, I hope to go kayaking, horse riding, glacier hiking, cruising on Milford Sound and star-gazing to name but a few! Will keep you all updated as I go along!
Anyway, pictures from my Camper Van adventure can be found here - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=97169&l=3eb68&id=639730629.
Hope all is good with everyone! Keep in touch!! xx
