Hey everyone! I can't believe the weather is still so bad in the UK!! Hope everyone is ok.
I'm now in Mount Maunganui which is one of New Zealands seaside resorts and whilst there has been a bit of sun we've also had a bit of rain as well! I left Rotorua on Wednesday and I'm here until tomorrow (saturday).
I think in my last blog I was about to go white water rafting and have a spa, both of which were lots of fun. The 7m drop over a waterfall was scary, but brilliant and we managed to keep our boat upright - although it felt like it went a couple of metres under the water!! The spa was really good as well although my massage was interesting! I had to wear my swimming cossie - the reason for which became very clear when I was in the room. Suspended above the massage couch was a metal arm with 4 showers attached to it. This arm was moved over me and the entire massage took place with water falling on me from the showers. I wouldn't necessarily say it was relaxing, but I still felt pretty chilled afterwards. Good job I didn't need the loo before I went in!! That would have been torture!!
One of the things that Mount Maunganui is known for is its surfing and it has an artificial surf reef - very similar to the one that is being built in Boscombe at the moment and I think was built by the same people. I'm not sure why Mt M needs a reef as it already has pretty good surf, but I can now say that I've surfed on an artifical surf reef! The waves weren't the best all along the beach so the reef wasn't able to have much of an impact when I surfed, but I'm going to have another go today.
I still haven't managed to put any more piccies up but I will do soon so you can see all of the places that I've been.
Next stop is Whitianga, then Auckland for a night and then on to the Bay of Islands where I hope to go scuba diving again.
Hope all is good with everyone, and see you all soon!
xx
