Today, very sadly, we leave the Mowana Safari Lodge and travel to Zimbabwe. Sad to leave, that is, such a lovely place to stay.
As a great surprise for Edward, we were collected on time (11am) and his slow education on 'African time' was set-back slightly. The jeep that took us to the Botswana border was open to the elements (warm and sunny) and we weren't sad to leave it behind at the border. Signing out of Botswana was very easy and the short drive through no-man's land took us to yet another "How much?" moment as were purchased the visas for Zimbabwe (#55 for UK citizens and #30 for Australian - Diane, again, was free - drinks on her as it appears a South Africa passport is definitely worth having!!)
Boarding an air-conditioned mini-bus at the Zimbabwe border, it was about an hour's journey to the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge, on the way we saw an elephant on the side of the road (snacking) and lots of trees - its been wet here and the vegetation is very lush.
Arriving at the Safari Lodge, Edward and Liz were met with a traditional (dancing and singing) Zimbabwean greeting (note the shock on his face) and we made our way to the very well-appointed rooms.
Next step, the falls themselves...
