Well! We have arrived in Africa and made it all the way to the extraordinary Mowana Lodge in Kasane, near the Chobe National Park (about 8 km)
This notwithstanding, an amazing trip here. We were sitting in a jeep, driving to the hotel thinking that only 24 hours before we had been sitting in a minicab in Chiswick - I think Liz is still surprised.
A couple of hairy moments where we didn't have enough runway, where we had to pay USD80 each (to get into Zambia) after having ewaited in a decidedly Italianate queue, and where we had to climb into a small motor boat on the muddy banks of the Zambezi in order to reach Chobe. We weren't sure Edward was coping but he retained his self-control!
After a huge and splendid meal, a little wine and much chat we are all collapsing. Tomorrowq it is a village tour of Impalila Island in Namibia. More borders (and crocs) than you can shakew a stick at!

steve Have fun and keep taking the tablets and/or wine
Debs I said make it interesting but running out of runway and extortion are a bit strong on day 1. Hopefully you are all getting into your stride now. A miserable, rainy day here with a forecast for snow later in the week!
