After a little pool time, we were off to brave the waves of the Zambezi River for our afternoon boat safari. We met a three-thrity and made our way down to the jetty and were about to climb aboard the larger of the two boats, fully-equipped with bar, when we were quickly disabused of that idea and pointed towards the little (far) smaller of the choices.
Our main concernt then was to stay out of the sun - as we had managed to catch a little too much of it by this point (well, Diane and James anyway). there were a couple of moments where James looked like he had tried to impersonate a muslim woman in full burkha, but at least we wouldn't be further irradiated.
The cruise took us past many pods of hippo (on of whom didn't like the look of us and tried to chase us out of the water), some smallish crocodile, buck and many bird species.
As we reached almost the westernmost point of our trip, a quick glance behind and casual feel of the rising wind made us a little concerned at the weather. Well! Next thing you know we were in a force 9 gale and had to pull into shore. No longer hiding from the sun, we spent 20 minutes sheltering from the rain and giggling a lot. We will post one of the classic pictures, Edward Sheltering From Rain, as soon as we can.
Dinner that night was out last in the Mowana Lodge and was another thoroughly enjoyable evening, well-lubricated with delicious Simonsig wine.
