So, typical argentine cuisine I love...
DULE DE LECHE! It´s like a sweet creamy spread, sort of like nutella style, but not chocolate. Tastes like toffee, and it´s served with deserts etc... it´s typically argentine. And try it as a liqueur! AW immense! http://www.clarin.com/diario/2005/04/18/conexiones/exporta_dulce.jpg
MATE A typically Argentine drink, which is sooo different. t´s a hot drink, and everyone drinks it here. It´s like what tea is in the uk. It´s drunk through a straw, and drunk out of a special cup called a calabaza, and it´s addictive! seriously. You carry around a flask or hot water, and pour it inot the cup, which is filled with yerba, which is the drink (like the leaves), and wait for it to brew, then drink through the straw. It´s that easy and that good! http://debeduinos.files.wordpress.com/2006/12/mate.jpg / http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e1/Mate_03_calabaza.png
Quilmes and Andes. THE BEER. It´s good, basic beer, same as at home, but it bit smoother and always served chilled. Beer here is not sold as a pint. It´s sold in bottles of a litre, and typically with 2 200ml glasses as it´s for sharing...I´ve not adapted to this, and just stuck with having a litre bottle to myself! :p, the same is true for cocal cola etc... http://imerege.com/blog/images/quilmes.jpg 1 bottle in a supermarket is $5, which is less than 1pound. In a bar, between $10-$15, between 1.50-2pounds (no pound sign on this key board)
ASADOS. Argentine meet, buenisimo! And asados is basically bbq meet, served typically on sunday lunchtime, fromt the grill. All different cuts and sorts of beef and pork. And all of quality. http://www.bocacalle.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/asado1.jpg You get meat every where but argentine meat is truley undescribable!!
LOMOS. Guilty pleasure. Beef, lettuce, ham, cheese in a snadwhich. Typically a take aware food here, but cheap and off good quality. And the very european ham and cheese combo, which I otherwise hate!
