A quick update...
Friday - I don´t work Fridays, so I set about to sort a few things and chill around the town for the morning. Again, another nice day. This place only gots 6 days of rain per year! Then, by the afternoon Lucila and I went to the centre of town to sort me out a mobile phone which is now all done! Then straight from there to the cinema club! at the University, organised by representative group here Amigos Del Mundo...Each Friday we get together and watch a film, an argentne film, with Spanish subtitles to help. It´s also another chance to meet some more people. We watched, Nueve Reinas, (English: Nine Queens, refering to a set of 9 stamps)...think Oceans Eleven, it was two Argentine conmen going around doing whatever to get money etc... It was very good, and very Argentine. We finished by discussing the film in the context of Argentina and how it represents the nation. There appears to be a lot of paranoia and distrust amongst argentines, they always walk the street with care, look around, cross the road if someone approaches you etc... But there are a lot of opportunists around. We discussed this, and it´s interesting to hear the views of the ARgentines who were with us as well. Had the chance to meet somemore people, a group of French people (lots of French), hopefully they can teach me french, but right now we mutually spoke in Spanish! Then got home, pretty late, had dinner as standard and watched another film, and English one this time! :)
Saturday - So far today, I spent hours in the centre of town...another amazing day for weather. The centre of town could be anywhere in France or Spain...shops, people, plazas, pedestrian areas, fountains, cafes, bars, restuarants...its a really leasent place...we ate well, albeit in McDonalds...its slightly cheaper, eh? That said, this place is cheap for a Brit, and the pound has actually strengthened since I´ve been out here too... So a chilled day down town, we went to an art gallery, great paintings, saw some street theatre etc... There are cultural activies; theatre, music, dance, readings, films by the bucket load daily in this town, mostly free! You´re spoilt for choice. What I love about the place as well; it´s sooo small. The centre is a 30 min walk from where I´m staying, I have everything on my doorstep, stark contrast to living in Downe village. Tonigh, not sure yet. Tomorrow, horse riding and asados (amazing ARgentine bbq) in the Andes!
