Workaway pt. 2 begins. 'A good idea,' I thought, when it was suggested to escape the windy winter in west Ireland by heading to the south of France. So myself and Brendan, ever true to our plan, have arived in Normandy which does happen to be in the north of France and as equally as cold as winter in Ireland. Infact, im sure it is colder. There is a huge snowstorm forecast to arrive at our front door tomorrow. Such things just dont happen in Ireland.
Its a lovely home here, in a small group of houses 10 minutes fom Villedieu, opposite a medieval church and owned by a Brittish mother and her children. The church in Villedieu is the place where the ancient tchnique of bell making happens, and a new set of bells have just been completed for Notre Dame in Paris. The family are also the proud owners of 12 cats and two dogs. And a Jervil for good measure (some TV for the cats if they feel for it. Mr. Jervil is a fantastic paper shredder too.)
Here our task is to complete a renovation which will result in a new bedroom and general purpose room for french students learning english. So far, its 95% completed, only for the floor paint which dries so slowly. Its perfect work for a weeks stay while we wait for our next host in Brittany to become available.
