The plan is to get a job in Amsterdam over the summer while I wait for Brendan to fish for money in Ireland. Literally. So after I arrived it all went really smoothly. Even the hostel was quite a sociable setup. Only there was no kitchen or breakfast...
Starting to look for jobs now. They're quite good to me the Dutch are. One hotel gave me a bottle of water when I was out applying and the guy I bought the prints off gave me a nice little discount since I had 20.
So within a week of being here I already have my visa sorted and a job offer. But only on the condition to the job us that I show a sofi number, which is a tax number.
So off on the never-ending hunt to find a sofi nr. After much research surveying and confusion I finally discovered that I haven't even registered in Amsterdam so I can't get a sofi nr. To register I'm then told is only possible if there is a residential address attached to the person. Not a hostel. So now I need a flat before I can get a job?
To make this long story a bit shorter, It wasnt long before i decided flat hunting is boring. so I was at it about 4 days before switching to plan B.
Plan B is to shut up shop in Amsterdam and start making use of my workaway account. It is much more fun searching for hosts across Europe than a flat in Amsterdam. It wasn't too long before a reply came back to my request. First in first served that's what I say so on Monday I'm off to Denmark to help out in a pancake house for a month. Easy peasy.
