Sometimes you end up at a destination and think "what should I do next?" and Ulan-Ude was just that sort of place although as we discovered there was not really an answer to that question - it was not the most exciting stopping off point of the trip! Given our early arrival after the short trip from Irkutsk we dropped our bags off at the hotel, had a coffee, walked around the place, had another coffee back at the hotel before having lunch and then checked in for the night. With another afternoon and part of the following day to fill it was however a place to re-charge the batteries in a decent hotel before the big push to Vladivostok. If honest our stay in Ulan-Ude was probably a good twenty four hours too much in total. The following day (after not doing too much, or the same things again for the third time) it was time to join Train No 8 again for the last leg of this trip. This train would be our home for three nights and well over 2,000 miles of travel between Ulan-Ude and our final destination of Vladivostok. This seemed like a good idea at the time of planning this trip . . . . . Here we go, one last train journey for us to enjoy!
