The trip from Novosibirsk to Krasnoyarsk was a fairly short trip on the Trans Siberian route at just 473 miles.
The actual Trans Siberian Express or the Rossiya to give it the official name (Train No 2 running east bound) is one train that does the entire journey from Moscow to Vladivostok every other day and takes seven days/six nights to do the trip end to end. Wiith us hopping on and off different trains as we journey eastwards we only ever travelled on Train No 2 between Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk!
Krasnoyarsk, even though a city with a population of over one million people, felt a comfortable and pleasant and leafy place to visit. We actually quite liked it and would happily have spent an extra day here. We were able to take in a local market that was taking place in the city and also enjoy the dancing fountains outside the Hotel Krasnoyarsk.
The real reason for stopping off here was to watch the Formula 1 from Canada although given our hotel room was windowless the enjoyable and airy walk around the city was also a bonus . . . . . plus the timings of the trains worked well for us!
Our next journey was to Irkutsk, leaving Krasnoyarsk after just one night, was travelling on board Train No 8 departing at 1336 Local Time (or 0636 Moscow Time) with a 671 mile eighteen hour trip ahead of us. Here we go again!
