This afternoon we arrived in Surfers paradise. This place was originally called Elston but the name was changed to Surfers paradise in 1933(after a local hotel) as it was thought it would be more appealing to tourists, this certainly worked and is a pretty popular holiday destination for Aussies and overseas people, lots of stuff to do and hotels around. And so our journey up the coast began....with a 14hr bus from Sydney to Byron bay. A relatively eventful journey including a breakdown, 3hr wait at 2am for a replacement coach and a full on fight breaking out between two passengers....brilliant! Arrived to Byron bay at around 10am and carried all our stuff to the hostel only to find out there was a free minibus from the bus stop! Early start today as me and Katie were getting picked up for our "home and away tour" from circular quay at 9am.
