We drive for over 1 hour & we arrive at Pisa where thee are thousands of tourists & we are welcomed to 37 degree heat.....The leaning tower of Pisa is such a sight in life , amazing at the lean that it actually has, it's a stunning building really really pretty. Flea markets line the sidewalks of the tower where you can buy anything from leather handbags to leaning nip glasses , it's so funny... We walk over to the ticket office pay our 60 euros for the 4 of us to walk up the tower but we have to wait 1 & 1/2 hours so we decide to walk around do a little shopping make a few phone calls to home to say hello & get a few cold drinks( water only).. Apparently thee are 180 steps to the 1st walkway on the tower then about another 60 steps more to the very top, Connor feels really unwell today but he really wanted to conquer the tower as I do . So off we go , as our thighs begin to burn I keep counting every 30 steps , it's an odd feeling walking up this tower especially as its on the lean you actually feel really kind of drunk as it makes you lean to the side & you feel a bit giddy....huffing & puffing as we walk up we finally reach the 1 st stage ( thank god) it gives us enough time to catch our breath to get ready for the next stage ( which is a lot shorter), it's a stunning view & I'm personally so thankful that our whole entire family managed to climb this wonderful structure, I'm so proud of Connor & Elye ... Good job boys..... As we make our way down its a lot easier & being inside the tower is a lot cooler than outside.....
We then make our way out to the car to drive onto Montecarlo ( old Montecarlo not the Montecarlo in Canne). It,s an old historic town with plenty of history & like most of the towns in Tuscany everything is high up in the hills soto travel up in the car it's very steep.....mark has a beer & we have Gelato,,, yummy....
We also have a beautiful lunch today at a vineyard where thee is bottles of red & white wine on the table ready to drink whilst we eat... I tell you this Italian way is very easy going. Once again we cannot move from lunch as we have eaten too much , we make our way to the train station to buy our tickets from
Florence to Rome then go buy some groceries & make our way home, it's been a huge day as we have been gone nearly 12 hours....Eli & Elye go for a swim whilst the bigger boys watch a movie, we have our leftover from
Last night & now we are sitting down watching The A Team..... Another lovely day in lovely Tuscany....!!!!
