We headed out early, earlier than the teenagers want to wake up. That is OK, I send them to my bed, close the slide outs and head out.
A little over two hours and 148 miles later, we pulled into the New River Gorge Bridge Visitor Center just off Rte. 19 in WV. We had stopped there before without the kids but did not make the hike down - today we were going to do that.
The kids grabbed something to eat while I got ready (i.e. showered) - oh the beauty of traveling with your home. They also got ready and we headed out to explore the museum and the trails. Gil stayed behind getting ready and using the Wi-Fi - he did not want to do the hike.
After the long break, we headed out and tried to make as much miles as we could. The goal is to make it as close to Cape Canaveral as possible since we want to visit Kennedy Space Center tomorrow.
The night arrived and after driving 620 miles we were ready to stop. We needed to look for a Wal-Mart, but also knew that the Georgia Welcome Center was coming up. Welcome Centers sometimes have larger parking areas than normal rest areas, so we decided to pull in and check this one out. As it turns out, the WC was under construction and even though it's not very large, it was pretty empty. We found a spot that had a no parking area to the left which would allow us to open the slide. We decided this would be acceptable since we were not going to be in anyone's' way and there were not many trucks parked there for the night - so we pulled the shades down and called it a night.
