So it's finally 2012 and it really doesn't feel like it!
I think it's fair for me to say that I have had a disasterous end to 2011...around a week ago while out having fun with some friends a guy managed to run over my foot and it has turned into a huge fuss. At first, when it happened, I had one of mey friends telling me that it was fine and nothing was wrong so I should just walk it off, which I did. I woke up the next morning and due to the fact the alcohols affects had warn off, I was in agony! I couldn't put my foot down without shoots of pain so I hobble down to the annex for food and have a bunch of people telling me I have to go to the hospital. At first I was a bit reluctant, saying I was fine and it was just a bit of bruising but as the pain got worse I gave in and went to the doctors.
So after anxiously waiting a while I get taken through for an xray and find out that I had broken my foot in two place..with one of the breaks being a displaced bone. The doctor I saw didn't know what to do but said I should come back the next day to see an orthopedic (sp?) doctor. So after a rubbish day with a huge bulky bandage and painful crutches I go back to see this doctor only for him to tell me it won't heal on its own, meaning I'd have to have an operation..and idea that totally terrified me seeing as I'd never been in a hospital before let alone having to have an operation! And to make it worse, my manager said it wasnt possible for me to have it done that day because xmas was near and she didn't want me alone for it and I needed to sort out all the insurance stuff so another week long agonising wait went by before I actually got into the hospital for the operation.
The hospital was really nice, I had a lovely doctor who kept reasuring me that everything was fine and a bunch of nurses who were soo nice.. I even had one with family from Scotland and another who had a nice chat to me about sims and skyrim as she is also obsessed. I got in on the 29th and stayed the night and got seafood paella for dinner which was nice haha then woken at 5am the next day for breakfast and the operation happened. It was rather terrifying :/ I got changed into the awful hospital gown theng and carted off to the theatre and totally freaked out... with all the people surrounding me, atttching things to me and the drip was just awful, as they put the stuff to knock me out in it burned but before I knew it I was out and then waking up in my ward with my foot in agony.
The next hours were a bit of a disaster...my blood pressure dropped to around 88/58 so the nurses were constantly coming in and out checking it and wouldn't let me get up on my own incase I passed out :/ but I kept going in and out of consciousness cus I was so tired out cus of all the medication and stuff so it was fine. I got discharged the next day, jusst in time for neew years eve (although obviously I had no plans for it!)
So while everyone gets excited and ready to go celebrate new years I'm all alone in the childrens home...not such a nice feeling but I talked to my family and then went and sat with the night shiftvolunteer and one of the children who were still up and it was a bit better. Ended up having to watch a victoria secrets catwalk which was basically a bunch of half naked women but ah well...when it turned to 12am we went outside and watched the few flares that were being et off and listened to everyone in the town celebrating. So it wasn't much of an eventful new years but at least it was something!
