Another blog entry with no phototo put on.... I really need to start taking photos!
So last night I got put in happy feet again, this time it was on night shift and although it wasn't as hectic as last time, the morning was still pretty crazy. Through the night we had to stay awak and make sure we woke up certain children at 11pm and 3am andtake them to the bathroom and despite doing this two of them still wet the bed, not good but what can you do. One of the youngest ones started crying because of it and even after changing him, he lay in his bed and cried for a while, but there was no tears, just howling so could tell he was faking so went and sorted the girlsout and hewas fine. I was thinking that it was easy and things weregoing smooth untiiill morning came... one of the boys woke at 5 and refused to go back to bed, he then went into the toilets and close the door so i couldnt get him and decided it would be a good idea to block the toilet with toilet paper...luckily i got him out of there and got the ness sorted out. He then calmed down a bit and started getting dressed for schoolandanother boy woke up and started messing about and turning on all the lights of the boys who were still sleeping. This is when things startedgetting hectic...one by one the boys startedwaking up and saying "Auntie you need to dress me!" and I was struggling to get one dressed as the others asked me to dress them to. Eventually I had all 13 of the under 10 year old boys awake and hyper....they were climbing on the beds, throwing pillows at me and throwing shoes everywhere it was crazy! I then had to leave them all getting dressed so that I could give the boy who wet the bed a bath only to come back and find they had taken the underwear drawer out and thrown them all over the room.. eventuallly, after another voluneteer and the care worker came in and helped we got them all dressed and downstairs to have their breakfast. Then afte a short time of peace the madness started over again...as it was time to brush their teeth. Two of the boys started arguing and onedecided it would be a god idea to take the toothpaste ad put it all over the other boys jumper >.< so that was another mess to clean up.
I was then finally allowed to go back to my room and went off to hand my laundry in.. which was rather amusing. Like almost every single person who I have told my name, the laundry woman laughed and called me Hannah Montana...which is also the reaction I got from the little ones in Happy Feet the first time I visited, then she laughed at me again when she read my list and saw I had wrote quilt cover instead of duvet haha.
Then it was time for some much needed rest and turn out I was more exhausted than I thought because I woke up at 12:15 and was late for the meeting but Yvonne didn't mind because night shift people always get away with it haha.
The rest of the day I spent in the annextalking to people and then went for a nap so was pretty uneventful. I then had to get organised for night shift and as I was leaving my room one of the girls in my house asked me to make sure I got nightshift here so she could talk to me, it was so cute and made my night. It turns out my supervisergave me this house anyway so she was really happy and we sat and taked for a bit cus she couldn't sleep.
Then one of the volunteers rushed in saying we had to go to the supervisers office immediately an I began to panic thining it was something bad...until we got there and everyone was laughing, it turns out our crazy superviser wanted to do team building by taking a group photo! we were there for agesgetting photos and everyone couldn't stop laughing because we thought we were getting in trouble but in reality it was just to get some photos.
So today has been a pretty funny day (: glad things are startng to look up!
