Found a nice little French patisserie that made coffee the French way versus the American way which meant it was drinkable! They also had apricot Danishes to go with their cappuchinos. I was on my way to times square to collect and start using my new York pass - a card that gives me free entry to almost everything for 3 days. I had to pass some shops having sales and so had to have a look - I have picked up a couple of things so far at really good prices. I am starting to find out which shops /designers I like, so far Donna karen, banana republic, loft and theory have been the standouts.
I decided to do the American tourist experience and had lunch at bubba gumps to see if their burger was as good as I remembered. It was, but I am sooooo not the theme restaurant kind of gal so will be sticking far off the tourist radar from this point on, bubbas is modelled on the movie Forrest gump.
My first use of the pass was to see the Harry potter exhibition at the discovery centre. It was amazingly well done, comprehensive costumes and props from all the movies with reproductions of alot of the sets. Daniel Radcliffe is in a play on broadway currently - how to suceed in business without really trying, so it was weird to see how small his costumes were from the first movie. Unfortunately no photos allowed so the only one I got was the one heading this blog of the flying car. Next stop top of the rock, a viewing platform to compete with the empire state building, and comes with great views of central park. Well worth the trip especially on the fine sunny day I was having. I stopped for a hot chocolate at a French chocolate shop in the rockerfeller centre and planned a walk around midtown to check out the Chrysler building, grand central station and the new York public library. I stopped at a local Italian restaurant for a healthy salad for dinner and called it a night.
