I have an easy day planned for Jane as she has just arrived from Australia and will be feeling the effects of jetlag at some stage. We have a time slot booked in to visit the 9/11 memorial. It's two disappearing waterfalls where the foundations of the two buildings were, surrounded by trees and bench seats for reflection. The first tower they are calling the freedom tower is almost finished, and it's covered with reflective material that reflects the sky, so almost disappears into the skyline. It's nicely done.
Lunchtime! So we had to go to the hottest food destination in town - Eataly. We had lunch at Birreria, their rooftop beer hall that holds a microbrewery, and is famous for slow cooked pork! Ours was marinated in beer and apricot sauce, with an apple, celeriac and mustard side - yummo, the pork fell apart at a touch. There were a lot of samples been given out in the food hall - so we bought a bit of extra stuff, but are sorted for meals for the next few nights !
We went across to Madison park, which has had a couple of rope art installations around the garden - new things for the squirrels to climb on really. The gardens are still amazing, but the daffodils have mostly died down. I'm lucky to be here at this time, as its a small window of opportunity to see the city looking so beautiful.
We returned back to scarsdale, and i took jane on a quick walk around the village to get orientated. We had a late light dinner of salad with some of our Eataly meats and cheeses and wine.
