A nice lazy day after walking all over manhatten yesterday!!! I put on my walking gear, grabbed a magazine and headed out to explore and laze around central park for half a day! It is massive, I entered half way in at the big lawn, walked through the wilderness area called the bramble and took my shoes off and walked on the springy green grass and watched the squirrels play. The closer you go downtown the more the crowds build especially around the areas like the boating lake and the Alice in wonderland statue. There were slot of talented musicians playing, jazz, guitar and my favourite a baritone opera singer accompanied by a cello.... Nice to stop and listen.
I wandered around the west of the park, it is a quiet residential neighbourhood and by new York standards almost deserted. I thought this would be a good location for an eyebrow wax and will be going to get my hair cut... It's always nerve racking trying new hairdressers at the best of times so hope there are no nasty shocks!

Jane I have been telling everyone about all the wonderful San Fran food, and I feel your pain.. Hang in there, I'm sure I had good food in NY (albeit 11 years ago). You must try the hotdogs, but avoid the pretzels at all costs! Keep up your blog entries xx
aggie Oh my darlin Shell, I totally get the hair thing - I thought I'd cut some expense and discovered a training academy at Kelvin Grove, so off I scoot..... The nerve and stress you build up before getting in the door just about kills me, but when you think you've got the consult sorted, he takes to your hair a little close the scalp and find yourself scrambling at the flloor to retrieve and glue back to what remains JUST attached to your head...... I hope you had a better experience. Now, I have one fabulous restaurant for you, not too sure if it's too late now, but I discovered this little French bistro in the Meat packers district way before sex n the city was conceived - Pastis, straight out of a bogart movie - smoke filled the room, fans swirling everywhere and french accents all round - the best mussells and fritz..... bloody yum........
