Woohoo! The doc was happy with the feet. He said I could leave my left foot undressed and probably one more week for the right foot. He said 'I don't want to see you again!' - greatest news I've heard delivered in a manner of rejection. They signed me off and didn't charge me.
Asked jim (the owner) about heading to Laos, there are 2 buses, at night and in the morning. The morning was full for the next day and the evening one gets to the Thai/Laos border at 2am. So gonna stay another day and head off Wednesday morning. When ya been here for 2 weeks, 1 more day is nothing. Headed to the pharmacy to stock up for the trip, asked if they had some sort of waterproof sock, they didn't so plastic bags it is then. Read in one of the guides about a blues bar that has live music every night, the owner 'tuk' plays a set. Headed out in a tuk tuk, the place was rather big. It had a front garden, big room with tables and stage then a back garden under cover overlooking the river however it was filled with just me and 2 other couples. One couple left when the rats were scurrying around up in the rafters, the other couple left when either rat s*** or debris fell into the guys beer. 'tuk' was playing acoustic outside whilst this was happening - pretty good but rather loose, jumbling up songs, re-tuning and a little outa time. His slide was pretty good. After him there was a band on in the main room. I headed in and propped the bar. I think they would have played if the place was empty but it was rather funny it was just me - a sad solitary applause after every song. They were really good and it was a shame they weren't playing in front of a crowd. With the blues filling the room, felt it was fitting to have a whiskey, the choice was jamesons (meh) or sangsom - I opted for the local juice. Well it didn't taste that strong but sure felt it when i walked the street to get a tuk tuk. Got back bout 1am rather bleary eyed.
