Hi again
Had a lively night on the Keralan backwaters, imagine the broads, 50 times bigger, boats all much prettier, smaller houses but so much life going on round them, washing, laundry, fishing, canoes to school etc. And much warmer.
They are so lush and surrounded by paddy fields, quite beautiful. It rained a bit but didn't matter.
Stopped on the way down today to visit a snake temple that childless couples go to to ask for children. If they get lucky the take the baby back, which they were doing today, and weigh them in a giant set of scales, and then have to provide gifts and offerings of the same weight. It was really funny.
Joe is better but off curry, and we have arrived at an amazing hotel right on the beach where we are based the next 4 days. Just finding our way about. Went for a walk to watch the fishing boats set off this evening and discovered too late the fishermen squating picturesquely by the water are not washing fish but having a poo. Not very nice close up.
Have 2 lovely cool rooms overlooking the sea, and a couple of nice restauarants, we know having missed lunch had 2 dinners.
Sea is warm, and lovely big waves so lots of fun.
Mary, laundry service excellent, cheap and back within 4-5 hours with ironed socks!
Have a brilliant time in the carribean all the Sandals family, and a brilliant time in Africa all the Ward family. Can't wait hear all about them.
Welcome home Esme,
Good luck with the move Brian and Mary.
Love to all
