Hello again
Had a couple of really relaxed days in the foothills of the Himalayas at McLeod Ganges, according to a bar man 5800ft ( correction this should be metres) above sea level. Did a reasonable hike yesterday and saw some incredible birds, no guide so no idea what they were and some huge Langure monkeys and some raucous rhesus macaque monkeys who performed for us for ages sliding down poles like firemen, and fighting, playing and cleaning eachother.
Found a beautiful clear waterfall fir a calm resting place.
The town is full of hand knitted yoghurt types and stalls selling Tibetan products. Didn't see the Dali Lama but he was in and we visited his residence and temple.
The walking was the highlight, fir trees and twisted deciduous trees with sunlight pouting through the gaps. We walked through some areas with prayer flags and tiny simple huts where monks retreat for silent meditation sometimes for months at a time.
In the evening we went to a typical vegetarian restaurant full of "gap yaar "
types and hippies of all ages.
Now sitting at a tiny airport (there are about 7 other passengers and 30 soldiers.) waiting for a flight to Delhi, and getting a bit worried about the size of the plane. Hope not too small.
By the way, we have all lost the curry challenge now as we saw pizza and couldn't resist.
Hope all is well with you all.
