Ahhhh what a night! The favela party was off the hook! I'm not much of a fan of clubbing, but this was something else altogether. I recall performing a haka in the middle of a samba circle (where all the best dancers jump into the middle to crump and stuff) and seeing full on gangsters walking around with solid gold guns for protection. This was as ghetto as it gets!
I got up and had breakfast at the hostel, and had a good yarn with the hostel folks about the mental night. After some food, I headed straight down to Copacabana beach with Amanda and we lay there people watching for several hours. Rio truly is a hangout for some weird and wonderful people!
We walked to Ipanema beach, which was much more beautiful that Copacabana, but also alot more expensive. I watched the sunset over sugarloaf mountain - which is a memory I will never forget, I love RIO!! We had some dinner in Ipanema, and then caught the metro back to Copacabana because we had eaten too much to walk! I was sad to say goodbye to Amanda, as she was heading back to La Paz to continue her holiday and I was catching an early morning flight to Argentina in the morning.
