Well for the last couple of days been holed up with a cold! That said yesterday managed to go for a walk in a local park known for its squirrels! In Mexico the squirrels are actually black!
About 10 yards into the park we were being stalked by 2 such squirrels. One landed quite near us and Iras daughter cackling with childish glee ran straight for it - obviously making it run away. They carried on walking but the said squirrel was eyeing me with unsquirrel like inteligence so I stopped to chat to it. It landed on the floor and came very close (maybe a foot) Couldnt believe my luck!! Then - and for this part time slowed down...... The crazed squirrel launches itself and lands on my thigh sinking its claws deep and starts heading north for my own collection of nuts! Freaked out i fling the dam thing off my leg - and interestingly enough squirrels really can fly.....well as long as there are no trees in its direct flight path that is! Hence the pics in the photo album of my bare thigh. I was showing off my battle wounds!
The next day we headed to the Frida museum which was really quite interesting. Actually it seems the mexicans love her husband Diego Riverra more having about 60% of the space assigned to him! Then after that we visited the Diego museum and the other side of town.
Still a little shakey from the squirrell molestation the day before Ira decided I needed a treat so we went to Hooters in the evening! Amazing place. The Buffalo wings are to die for - plus they have like 10 tvs showing football of every kind! Man heaven!
Next Day we headed out to a silver mining town called Taxco high up in the mountains. In keeping with the suicuidal attitude to pedestrians the town had no pavements with everyone having to walk the roads. The roads themselves were tiny with a car a second shooting down them so was a real fun time! The town itself was nice - nothing crazy but very picturesque!
After that we headed to lake Tequesquitengo. On the highway we passed about 3000 federal police armed with riot gear, rocket launchers and such like. It was later explained there were some riots amoung police and school teachers. I think their teacher must be a bit tougher than Mrs Pritchard! It was here I lost my Mosquitto virginity with something like 8 bits one night! Why o why havent meexicans heard of "afterbite". We hired a boat and went for a cruise and even tried a little waterskiing. Well I say we, I mean Ira. She tried it. I watched and that was enough for me to decide it wasnt for me!
Last night now before heading to Aukland and went out for a quick game of bowling but still recoving from cold so heart not really in it!
